Actuators, including relays and dimmers, mount directly under the existing mechanical switch, inside the lighting fixture, or behind a suspended ceiling. Battery-powered switches and sensors are surface-mounted using double-sided adhesive tape or screws on any flat surface. The iNELS glass controllers are designed for compatibility with standard KU-68 electrical boxes.

Yes. The wireless architecture of iNELS components eliminates the need for wall chasing, drilling, and cable rerouting. Installers add control points to finished interiors without generating dust or requiring plaster repairs.

A neutral wire is required only when installing the iNELS relay or dimmer inside the wall box under the switch. When mounting the actuator directly inside the lighting fixture, the neutral wire is always present and accessible.

Physical mounting and wiring of an iNELS actuator take between 2 and 10 minutes, facilitated by screwless terminals that do not require specialized tools. Software commissioning, performed by scanning the device QR code with a smartphone, takes up to 5 minutes per unit.

Professional Matter devices for smart electrical installations by iNELS

The Matter protocol is a universal, IP-based connectivity standard developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), an organization comprising technology manufacturers including Apple, Google, Amazon, and Samsung. iNELS integrates this standard directly into its hardware. By utilizing this common language, iNELS relays, dimmers, and sensors communicate locally with devices from other brands. This eliminates the requirement for proprietary gateways, making smart home infrastructure future-proof and protecting consumer hardware investments against software obsolescence.

Four pillars of the Matter standard in iNELS Hardware

  1. Simplicity: Setup requires scanning the Matter QR code printed directly on iNELS hardware using any compatible smart home application.
  2. Interoperability: iNELS actuators and sensors communicate natively with equipment from other manufacturers. An iNELS Matter motion sensor triggers a relay from a different brand without cloud-to-cloud API integrations.
  3. Reliability: iNELS hardware executes commands locally. Signals travel directly across the local area network or Thread mesh, ensuring iNELS switches operate lighting even during internet service outages.
  4. Security: Every iNELS Matter device contains a cryptographic Device Attestation Certificate (DAC). This guarantees authenticity before joining the network, with all local traffic utilizing AES-128 encryption.

Purchasing iNELS Matter standard devices provides guaranteed cross-brand compatibility. This framework removes the guesswork from the purchasing process, acting as a definitive seal of approval. Users control iNELS hardware through their preferred interfaces without installing a separate manufacturer application for basic functions.

For professional installers and developers, iNELS hardware accelerates system deployment. The compact design of iNELS relays fits into standard European flush-mounting boxes, and screwless terminals speed up the physical wiring process. Technicians bypass proprietary gateway configuration, relying on standardized IT infrastructure to reduce physical installation time and maintenance requests.

The iNELS Matter product lineup

In-wall smart relays & dimmers

The iNELS catalog includes switching and dimming actuators designed for concealed mounting. The RFSAI-62B-SL is an in-wall smart relay that controls two independent electrical circuits. The RFDEL-71B-SL/MT operates as an in-wall smart dimmer, regulating the brightness of dimmable LED, ESL, and resistive lighting loads.

Mounting an iNELS smart relay behind a light switch infrastructure allows users to retain their existing interior design hardware while adding digital control. Installing a smart dimmer behind switch mechanisms upgrades standard physical controls to automated lighting zones. Every Matter smart relay and Matter dimmer switch manufactured by iNELS fits inside standard European flush-mounting boxes.

Wireless wall switches & controllers

For locations lacking pre-installed electrical wiring, iNELS provides the RFWB-40/MT and RFGB-40/MT physical control interfaces. These units function as a battery-powered light switch, communicating over the Thread network. The RFGB series features a Sharp Glass design, where the glass control surface operates as a wireless touch light switch.

An iNELS Matter wireless switch mounts to flat surfaces, including glass, wood, and concrete, using double-sided adhesive tape. Users configure these devices as a Matter scene controller, assigning multiple simultaneous actions—such as turning off all lights and lowering the heating—to a single button press. The Matter wall switch acts as a direct network endpoint, sending commands to relays and dimmers without passing through a cloud server. Alternatively, users can select a standard wireless wall switch configuration for direct point-to-point binding.

Sensors & detectors

Automated environments rely on accurate physical data. The iNELS RFMD-200/MT Matter motion sensor detects infrared thermal movement to trigger lighting or security protocols. This Matter motion detector operates on battery power, allowing for placement on ceilings or walls without routing cables. Integrating a wireless Matter motion sensor reduces electricity consumption by ensuring lights operate only in occupied rooms. The iNELS RFWD-100/MT magnetic contacts monitor the physical state of doors and windows, reporting open or closed statuses directly to the network fabric.

Principle of operation

The protocol establishes standard device clusters that govern basic physical functions. Any certified application, such as Apple Home or Google Home, directly accesses iNELS hardware to turn a relay on or off, adjust the brightness of a dimmer, or read the occupancy status of a sensor.

Manufacturer-specific configurations fall outside the standardized clusters. Adjusting advanced iNELS hardware parameters, such as defining the minimum brightness level of the RFDEL-71B-SL/MT to prevent LED flickering or changing the LED indicator behavior on a switch, requires the native iNELS application.

Network, connectivity and daily usage

  • Hubs and internet requirements: Operating iNELS Matter equipment does not require dedicated iNELS gateways. The network architecture requires a Matter Border Router (Apple HomePod, Google Nest Hub, Samsung Smart TV) to bridge the Thread mesh network with the local Wi-Fi network. During the initial commissioning phase, the local network must have an active internet connection and support the IPv6 protocol.
  • Offline operation: Following successful installation, iNELS devices execute commands without external internet access. The Thread mesh routes signals between devices directly. An internet outage only disables remote access and control from outside the local area network. iNELS Thread devices do not connect directly to Wi-Fi routers.
  • Behavior after power failure: Following a disruption in the main power supply, iNELS actuators follow strict safety protocols. A relay remains in the OFF state upon power restoration to prevent fire hazards from unmonitored appliances, such as irons or heaters. A dimmer restores its operation to the previous state. The devices and the Border Router store network credentials locally.

Why choose iNELS Matter devices

  • EU Manufacturing: All hardware design, manufacturing, and quality control take place at the ELKO manufacturing plant in the Czech Republic, which owns the iNELS brand
  • Official 5-Year warranty: The extended warranty period exceeds standard consumer electronics regulations, reflecting the industrial-grade component selection.
  • Lifespan up to 20 years: The internal circuitry is engineered for long-term continuous operation under maximum rated loads.
  • Zero-cross function: The iNELS relay actuates exactly when the alternating current sine wave crosses zero volts. This prevents electrical arcing, protects the physical contacts from welding, and extends the component lifecycle to millions of operations.
  • Short-circuit resistance: The internal architecture incorporates protection mechanisms against sudden load spikes and short circuits.
  • Screwless terminals: Push-in wire terminals on iNELS actuators provide consistent clamping force, preventing wire degradation and eliminating the need for periodic terminal retightening.
  • Direct manufacturer support: iNELS maintains a direct technical support channel and a comprehensive network of certified distribution partners across Europe.
